This will be the first expansion following the three countries the platform added in December 2021, namely Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

Paramount+ Announces Expansion Into UK, Ireland, and South Korea

According to a press release from Paramount, Paramount+ will launch in the United Kingdom and Ireland on June 22nd, 2022. After a week-long trial, subscribers will pay £6.99/month or £69.90/year in the UK. Paramount didn’t reveal the exact pricing for Ireland during its press release.

On top of that, the company also plans to launch Paramount+ in South Korea in June as well, but it didn’t give many details about it.

What Content Will Paramount+ Offer?

If you’re from the UK, all the content available will be one of the reasons to subscribe to Paramount+. During its press release, Paramount confirmed that the UK would have access to Paramount+ originals and the most renowned movies and shows from Paramount’s studios, including Nickelodeon, Paramount Pictures, and Comedy Central. In total, there’ll be more than 8,000 hours of content right from the start.

Unfortunately, the company didn’t mention the programming that’ll be available in Ireland and South Korea in June 2022.

Paramount+ Builds Expansion Plans

Since its rebranding from CBS All Access to Paramount+ in early 2021, the platform has expanded to multiple countries in South America, as well as Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

The UK and Ireland are just the tip of the iceberg for Paramount+, which plans to expand across all of Europe. Although it was previously announced that Paramount+ would expand to most of Europe in June 2022, the updated calendar only mentions Italy, Germany, France, Switzerland, and Austria. However, the launch in these countries would take place in the second half of 2022. The company also confirmed that Paramount+ would be available in India, but that won’t happen until 2023.

While we expect to find out more information about the expansion of Paramount+ across Europe in the upcoming months, details about the company’s plans for India will likely be announced in 2023.

At this point, the expansion of Paramount+ falls in line with what other streaming platforms are doing. Most streaming services are breaking down the barriers of the United States and trying to achieve global success similar to that of Netflix. However, with too many streaming services on the market, whether their plans will work remains to be seen.

With a total of 62.4 million global subscribers, Paramount+ continues to grow. As it expands to more and more countries in 2022, we expect considerable growth in subscribers and revenue. The UK, Ireland, and South Korea are great stepping stones for what the company has planned moving forward.
