The announcement came as a surprise to many supporters of the emerging life sim game. After the introduction of Paralives and the warm reception to their first para, Maggie, and her beautiful penthouse apartment, it seemed Paralives was ready to become a phenomenon. However, Alex and his team had to make some adjustments to ensure the game’s continuing progress.

Roxane, who spent some time railing against Paralives on social media, has since deleted her Paralives Reddit and Twitter accounts. It was apparently not her choice to leave Paralives, and she had a lot of passion for the project.

What may have made her an improper fit for the development team was that she was too passionate, and may have pushed her teammates too hard. She clearly wanted to have more say in the direction the game and company were taking and made her criticism well known, resulting in high stress on both sides. Development is hard enough under good circumstances, and an unbalanced team can cause a lot of problems.

Roxane’s work is appreciated, but Paralives needed to let her go. “We are really thankful for all that she did for the game,” Alex wrote on his Patreon, “and we wish her good luck with her future projects.” Roxane still has options ahead of her, and she may want to follow in the steps of Amy Henning, who created her own indie development studio.

At this point, it is best for everyone to move on, so that Alex and his team can get back to what is important: putting together a great life sim game.

The release date for Paralives is still unannounced.
