The Panthers tight end left Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after injuring his foot on a non-contact play, with the team confirming he would not return.

And after the game, Olsen told media he had ruptured the plantar on his right foot and his season was over.

“It’s kind of one of those things where it was a matter of time,” Olsen said. “We pushed this foot as far as possible the last two seasons and today it just kind of had enough.”

The injury is to the same foot that caused Olsen to miss three games earlier this year after he re-broke the same foot he hurt last year. He has missed 12 games in the past two seasons with the injury.

Olsen had just one catch for 13 yards against Tampa Bay.
