Not only is that an NHL record (the previous mark was 15 rounds in 2005, also involving the Capitals), but it’s also hilarious to look at when you check out the box score. The Panthers needed to answer the bell to avoid elimination after a Washington score five times, and all five times they answered.

In fact, the teams mirrored each other every round until the final set.

In the end, it was Alex Ovechkin who wound up missing and Nick Bjugstad putting home the winner in the 20th for Florida.
