The clip, shared on TikTok by the dog’s owner, under the username mlbeukes, shows the dachshund named Rosie struggling to get out of a rabbit hole as her mom encourages her to come out. At the same time, the owner’s bigger dog can be seen digging holes to help his buddy.

Mlbeukes confirmed in an update on Tuesday that the miniature dachshund is safe and was rescued after being stuck in the hole for 40 minutes, reassuring the fearful users who had been following the story since last week. Her ordeal ended with a much-needed nap at home with the other dog, the second video showed.

According to the American Kennel Club (AKC), dachshunds were initially bred to hunt badgers. In fact, their name is German for “badger dog.” Their legs keep them low to the ground to track scents, and their narrow bodies allow them to crawl into burrows, looking for badgers.

Despite their small size, dachshunds are brave and fierce. Over time, they were bred in different varieties to hunt different kinds of prey.

Standard dachshunds weigh up to 35 pounds and hunt badgers and wild boars. The miniatures weigh up to 11 pounds. They’re very affectionate with family and quite open to strangers, easily adaptable and trainable, according to the AKC. They also love playing and barking a lot.

The video, which was first shared on TikTok last Wednesday, has since been viewed nearly 800,000 times and received 57,800 likes.
